State of the Mono 4 – E-mails Work Now Maybe???

    Hi everyone!

As it turns out, our e-mail notification system has just… been having a lot of issues, so there’s a chance a bunch of you just haven’t gotten any updates in a looong time! It’s maybe fixed now so hopefully you’re reading this! I pinged every single category so we can reach as many people as we can.

If you’re one of the folks who hasn’t been getting e-mails for a while, stay with me as I brief you because a LOT HAS GONE DOWN. If you’ve been keeping up to date with my shenanigans, feel free to skip this part and scroll down to where I write SHENANIGANS in bold and caps.

Okay! So for those seeing this for the first time, I will be as brief yet as informative as I can. Basically, you haven’t missed much because my work was draining the soul out of me for years. A month ago or so, I sent out a blogpost asking people to help me have reasons not to quit the TEL series, and a bunch of people replied! After that, it was EFNW where I got to see a lot of you, and then I came back and I was all, “Why am I letting my life waste away like this?”

SO I QUIT MY JOB TO BECOME A FREELANCE WRITER!!! My last day was officially Friday, and I am now currently living off writing commissions and the generous support of people on Patreon and Ko-Fi. And that’s mostly the TLDR, though I would suggest reading the previous 3 State of the Monos if you want the full scope of things. I would also advise you browse through the stories just to see if there’s anything new posted you might have missed, be it a new story or an update to one.

    Now, on to…

    SHENANIGANS!!!

Shenanigans aren’t that much. The main thing I’ve done is re-established my Ko-Fi to have tiers, because as it turns out, Patreon takes a massive cut whereas Ko-Fi makes it so that I get 100% of what y’all are giving me so I’m hoping to make that my main support place!

And that’s mostly it for now. I will probably post a little oneshot set in a friend’s RariTwi AU this week, then I’m taking my one week vacation, and then I’m going to in earnest work on next chapter of TEC.

I’ll be back next week with my little updates.

Aaaand what else? Oh! Just to test if the e-mails are working, please go HERE and put your vote in if you are here because you got an e-mail.

      Hello Mono,

You don’t know me, and I haven’t left any sort of comment on this site before. All I can say is that I’m a fan of your work.

I can’t say that I’ve been a long time fan. I can’t say I’m some year-long devotee to the Enchanted series. But I can say without hesitation that I love it dearly.

I came across The Enchanted Library a couple months ago. I was browsing fimfiction because I was trying to find a new fic that would truly click with me. I was very disappointed by all of that new Gen 5 stuff (although that’s just my personal opinion), so I was trying to find something I could consider MY canon; Something I loved. There were many fics I came across in this conquest, some of them were older like Divine Entertainment, and some were newer ones like Changing Expectations. I loved pretty much all of them, but none of them really stuck with me, they couldn’t quench that thirst that was building up inside of me.

And then I found Enchanted Library…

I couldn’t have predicted what I was going to read, I went in simply expecting another Raritwi story that I’d get bored of and stop reading halfway through.

      Nope…

From Five Score to Fallout, I mean this with every ounce of sincerity I can muster: The Enchanted Series is One of a Kind. It is so drastically different than any other story I have ever read. You may have based the world off of FiM, but it is YOUR world; YOUR universe. There is absolutely nothing that can compare to the Enchanted universe. It is something only your vast, unique mind could create. To me, a world that has so much passion and care put into it becomes real, and that means that your world is just as important as any major media franchise. Maybe it’s even more important, because I know you’re not just doing this to make a profit.

This universe has become MY canon, and I mean that. I prefer your stories over anything modern that Hasbro can try and throw my way. I just couldn’t get enough of it!

And then, problems came up. You stopped posting chapters, and I was terrified at the thought that this saga would stop unfinished. Thankfully though, you updated, filling us in on what was going on in your life. This year has been taxing on you, and I get that. I can’t even begin to grasp what you’re going through, but I know this: you can overcome. The early 2020s have impacted the globe in ways we never could have imagined back in 2019. I’ve hit points in my life where I though it would never end, days that I felt hopeless, but I’m still here. You’re still here. It sounds like there’s a light at the end of your tunnel, and I’m proud of you for pushing on.

You made it! I’m so proud of you. So many writers would just not get out of their holes, and they would leave their fics behind after losing all motivation to write them. But you did it! You overcame your obstacles and this incredible saga of your creation can finally pick up where it left off. As long as you have that determination, you can make it through ANYTHING the future throws your way.

I read your initial blog post where you explained all that was going on a few weeks ago. You asked us to “harass” you with messages showing you that we care. I started writing this message immediately after. I didn’t finish it, because work came up, and I simply didn’t have time to think of the right words to describe the passion I feel for your work. Now, I’ve read this blog post, and I realize that you found the motivation you were looking for. I guess I’m a little late to the party to send this message, but I still wanted to send it because I know that every little bit of support fuels your determination to finish this project. I mean everything I’ve said: This world MEANS something to me. I need to see it through to the end; I can give you all of the support and motivation in the world, but at the end of the day, you’re the only one who can make it happen.

The more I thought about your blog post while typing this, the more I realized your situation is a perfect parallel to TEL. You very much are Twilight, surrounded by stories and only stories, seemingly doomed to be alone forever, and yet the only thing keeping you there is your own emotions. Follow her example: think of the people who care about you, and how much they depend on you. Hundreds, if not thousands of people are counting on you to finish the Enchanted series. I can’t tell for certain how many others have messaged you, but trust me when I say that you and I are not the only ones who care about TEC.

I’d like to think that one day, I’ll have three physical books on my shelf, showcasing the story of a unicorn fashionista who stumbles upon a library that she didn’t even believe to exist, and finding the most incredible love there ever was. One day, when I grow old, I want to pull them out again, and show them to a child I don’t yet have, telling him, “Son, I think it’s time I tell you about a story that changed my life.” But I can’t do that when the third book still isn’t finished. The very thought of it never being finished makes my heart hit my stomach.

This universe was put into your mind for a reason: you were MEANT to create this universe and flesh it out. What started out as a simple short story has evolved into a universe so unique that it matches MLP in name only. A saga like this deserves to be saw through to the end, and the only one who can finish it is you. There are so many fics I loved that never got finished: Empire and Rebellion, Blue Angel, Project Sunflower: Harmony. I can’t bear to even imagine Enchanted Carousel going that same way. There’s one difference between TEC and those other stories I mentioned, however: you still care. You made it clear that you WANTED to finish it, but needed the motivation. You mentioned that this unfinished story followed you, and you know it won’t leave until you finish it; that applies to me too. I NEED to see what happens next, I need to see the end of this saga. I don’t even care if it’s some cliche generic ending; it’ll be better than just never finding out what happened. If I can play my part in making sure this story DOES see the end, it will make ALL of my pain finally go away. I beg you, even if you find that you can’t do it for yourself, do it for me. Do it for the thousands of people who have invested so heavily into the world you created, all of the people who want to see Rarity and Twilight finally get the happy ending they deserve.

Let us be your Rarity, saving you when all seemed lost, but don’t make me have to wait years to finally see you again, because no matter how sweet that reunion would be, we both know it could come a lot sooner.

I beg you, from the bottom of my heart: Finish The Enchanted Carousel.

      I care.

      Signed,
      Edian

I can confirm, that E-Mail is a complicated thing. You can break it easily, if you don’t know, what you’re doing. However, I got all relevant E-Mails + one test mail.
